Everything I know, I know because of love. – waist fitted WCH Shirt of the Month September 22
In September 1828 the legendary author and Christian anarchist Leo Tolstoy was born in the Russian province of Tula. His greatest work, War and Peace, is the inspiration for the new Working Class History T-Shirt of the Month. Tolstoy understood history as the result of the intersecting and interacting lives and actions of millions of ordinary people, and so was a major influence on the understanding of history by the people of the grassroots educational initiative Working Class History.
About the design: The Berlin-born tattoo artist Nastia Jakovleva, who was born in Leningrad (today St. Petersburg) and lives in Berlin, has placed the love of Andrei Nikolayevich and Natasha Rostova at the center of her drawing. Andrej and Natascha are two of the main protagonists from "War and Peace". The drawing shows her at her first dance at the New Year's Eve ball in 1809. While the dancing couple stands for peace, the background symbolizes the horrors of war. Another highlight of the drawing is the following quote from Andrej: "Everything I know, I know because of love."
This really extraordinarily beautiful motif is available on several shirt colors and in a high-quality digital transfer print.

Background: What is the T-Shirt of the Month project?
The T-Shirt of the Month project is a collaboration between Working Class History, a grassroots Educational project that tells stories from below through different formats and channels, and dna merch, a Berlin-based social enterprise and ally of the transnational workers network ExChains. The project aims to generate funds and support each other. The project "T- Shirt of the Month" follows the idea of "Prosumption", a more sustainable and collective approach to production and consumption. dna merch, together with a global network of artists, creates exclusive shirt designs, inspired by events and stories from working class history. Each shirt is strictly limited and made of 100 percent organic cotton: it can only be pre-ordered for one month and will then be sewn and printed in exactly the quantity that will be available that month was told!
T-shirts of the month are literally shirts to make working class history. They do this in several ways:You help fund WCH's work in promoting the spread of stories from below through WCH's various channels.
You are helping to sustain Humana Nova, a worker-owned textile cooperative in Croatia.
DNA merch uses a portion of proceeds to support militant grassroots unions in South Asia.
They bring exposure and income to designers and artists from underprivileged and underrepresented backgrounds.
